I said it before, but she could have just cried in place, hung her head and just sobbed..she instead grabs for Eric, curls into him, and just lets herself go. She clings to him until he tells her to run. This is just a big deal to me, okay?
Yeah, it tells me Sookie’s a fucking head case who can’t do a damn thing if she doesn’t have a man to bury her head on. She’s so simpering, whimpering, co-dependent, and needy. I can. not. stand. her. This is NOT the kind of female character I admire or even find interesting.
“Oh I want my character to be made if stone and not need anyone but herself.” While I understand what you mean and what it is you want, I don’t agree with you. The whole overused trope of the woman being
“independent” to the point of being emotionally blocked is harmful and problematic. It goes along with the idea that women shouldn’t show any emotions that aren’t pleasing to people. It also goes along with the idea that women’s actions are only valid if they are seen as something that is not a sign of weakness. Sookie is an independent person who helps others and would give up herself to help others. This does not make her weak or annoying or codependent; it makes her a kind person. By turning to Eric, she is turning to someone she trusts for help and comfort. She is not in “desperate need of a man” and even if she was there would be nothing wrong with that. After all she’s been through she needs to vent somehow with someone.
Thank you! I am so sick of people saying she’s whiny and too dependent on men. Uh no she is NOT. There were plenty of situations she got her damn self out of without a man. And she wasn’t dependent on Either Bill or Eric by the end of season four. That was a woman that walked away from both of them to be more independent and have a normal life without any man. She herself told Holly and Arlene men were nothing but trouble. Her seeking comfort in a man she loves after being apart from him the whole season is not whiny or whimpering. Also I think Eric was a little upset to see Bill not be saved and “die” as well. She was going to a friend and a past lover in a time that was a little depressing to her, and she was sharing a surprised and sad moment with him. Alex even said that Eric did sort of start to care a bit for Bill through the season and hoped he’d snap out of all this. So I think two people who once loved each other sharing a moment of comfort over the demise of someone that was in their lives is not a negative thing. I love Sookie and I look up to her bravery and heart. She is more independent than most people give her credit for. It’s why Eric fell for her in the first place. Though she loves easily and may have fallen for Bill’s tricks easily she does not NEED a man. She’s made this very clear that as wonderful as her love for both was she doesn’t NEED either one of them. And she managed fine without them before she ever met Bill. So to say she is too needy is ridiculous.
It’s absolutely ridiculous.
Heh… taking character’s actions at face value, you won’t like anyone on TB.
Yes, your Bill is gone, Sookie. He never really existed. He was your mutual creation—you and the real Bill (whoever HE is) made him.
I just got chills from ohiogurl
pretty much my feelings too…
what a blow for our girl - she’ll have to face the truth now - no more hiding behind kindness and forgiveness Sookie - you gave your heart to a bad man.
